Spring Special

Then hate me when thou wilt; if ever, now;
Now, while the world is bent my deeds to cross,
Join with the spite of fortune, make me bow,
And do not drop in for an after-loss:
Ah! do not, when my heart hath 'scaped this sorrow,
Come in the rearward of a conquered woe;
Give not a windy night a rainy morrow,
To linger out a purposed overthrow.
If thou wilt leave me, do not leave me last,
When other petty griefs have done their spite,
But in the onset come: so shall I taste
At first the very worst of fortune's might;
And other strains of woe, which now seem woe,
Compared with loss of thee, will not seem so.

Sonnet XC by William Shakespeare (1564-1616).

Welcome

A very humble personal site that someday plan to expand into my own domain, just as soon as I have the time to pull it out.

My very first Poser products store. Right now my products are available for sale at Renderotica, 3D Commune, Animotions and Turbo Squid.

A Word

I am glad you found your way to this page and I hope you might enjoy your visit. My name is Carlos Terán, known as carlos-teran in DeviantART (so much for the creativity there, right?). I have been interested in the CGI (computer generated images) field for quite some time, but when I discovered this program, now called Smith Micro's Poser... well you know how some people can get addicted to it... so my interest became my passion, and a nice way of making a living creating something I love to... and getting paid in the process. Then I came across Autodesk 3D Studio MAX and my fingers took over. It is almost as much fun as anything else I can think of... almost... My graphics are a personal expression of my own self, and are not intended to reproduce truthfully this collective dream we call reality. So, I do hope you will enjoy looking at them just as much as I enjoyed creating them. You'll find in my gallery a blend of fantasy, erotic art, romance and tenderness for every taste and preference. You'll also notice that I don't enclose myself in a single style or theme. Also, if you visit my On-line Prints Store, you'll find a selection of the graphics I enjoy the most for sale as high quality prints and souvenirs, or if you're looking for Poser tools, check out my products available at major 3D stores.

Red_Light

Some of my artwork is permanently featured in Red Light Center's Main Street Gallery, and some of those graphics are only available to VIP subscribers. So far, 16 of my Premier graphics are available there (with more to come), so if you are a member of the Red Light Center community, be sure to check them out one of these days.

Once again, 3 of my graphics are featured in the book, "Renderotica Spring Special 2009" available at Renderotica. The concept behind my graphics is noir, with a tint of sadness and the feeling of breaking up, and the titles are "I'll Be Seeing You", "I See Myself In The Pouring Rain" and "I Don't Wanna Know". This year's book contains 75 exclusive graphics, so don't miss the chance to get your hands on it!.

After a whole year of not submitting new artwork to DeviantART, you just have to know if the glove still fits, so "Hold Your Breath" has been a cathartic experience, in many ways. I've been dealing with the deep feeling of loss after a relationship break up, and wanted to create something sexy, complex, noir, provocative and tender, just like she was. The shadow system and the ray tracing of the image made this baby a difficult one to render, about 7 hours in a dual core machine. There's also a PG-13 mobile wallpaper version of this graphic available at my Zedge account, in case you want to have it.

Many of you guys still wonder why I've been away from this site for so long. There are many reasons, but only 3 are important. It's really amazing how many things can change from one year to the next. First, I had a break up, and that feeling alone consumed my creativity in a bad way, just like a disease would. The artwork I did create during that period was way too dark and bitter for me to share it, so I ended up not doing a big deal of it. Not answering e-mails and notes, or phone calls became my daily routine (you know people cares about you when you have 100 unanswered voice mails in your phone). Even my artwork output at Renderotica suffered a lot, and my good friend Dennis Lycke had to literally remind me almost daily the deadlines for the spring special book. Another reason (related in some ways to the first) is that I'm starting up a new company named Sensory Treks that designs and sells Interactive Multisensory Environments for special populations. I'll keep you posted on that one later (it has been a lot of fun). The third reason was fairly simple: not enough time. It takes a lot of time to sit in front of a computer to create something worthy to be shared. I'll always prefer to deliver a few good graphics, rather than the opposite. I hope you don't mind that much. This year, I've been blessed with the support of many friends, and I really appreciate that. My true buddies care about me, regardless of everything. To all of them (and quite specially to one special little person who hates my guts), my best regards. Now, I'm enjoying Depeche Mode's new album Sounds Of The Universe (grab a CD, you'll love it!), and looking forward for the release of the new Star Trek movie, and feeling like a kid once again.

I'll do a couple of one-shot, self-contained short stories to be published in the next issue of Renderotica Magazine. Remember that bitter artwork I was talking about earlier?. Well, it looks quite good anyway!. I'll let you know when those stories will show up.

At this moment, I'm producing a music video for a local band. So far the concept is fairly cool, with a couple of 3D scenes and about 47 CGI effects. And of course I'm shooting the thing in full HD. Will keep you posted.

Both William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy had both their birthdays in March. May they live long and prosper!.

Eternal_Minuet

My comic Eternal Minuet is so far released up to the Seventh Episode, still available for download in the 14th issue of Renderotica Magazine. I haven't set aside enough time to produce the following 4 episodes (already outlined and with pre-viz renders completed), but just as wine gets better with time, the time I'm taking will help me to deliver an excellent piece of erotic horror, so keep your hands on the mouse and I hope to deliver soon. The first 6 episodes (1-6) of the saga will appear in late 2009 in a paperback published in the UK by Silver Moon Publishing. This 100-plus pages volume will contain additional artwork, as well as a prologue and some behind-the-scenes regarding Eternal Minuet's creative process.The paperback will be available as a traditional paper book in the UK (there will be an e-book version for the rest of the world). I'll keep you guys informed with more details as the release date comes closer.

My upcoming Sci-Fi comic Aurora has finished pre-production, and it's now in full production (sets, ships, characters), with some important delays in terms of workload and story-wise adaptation. In this journal I've released some conceptual art (the main ship and a few other models) that you would like to see in my scraps section. Some finished artwork will be available soon. I'll love to hear your opinion and suggestions, so send me a note. This title will be released by Silver Moon Publishing in the UK.

Now, regarding my graphic novel Into The Neddle's Eye, I've some conceptual art (one of the main sets) that you would like to see in my scraps section. I would love to hear your opinion and suggestions, so send me a note. This title will be also released by Silver Moon Publishing in the UK.

Sometimes it takes me ages to read all my mail and check my devwatch, so please be patient, and let me know by note if you have something in particular you're dying to showcase.

turbosquid

This past few months I've been also busy with the release of several texture products for Poser Pro and Autodesk 3D Studio MAX. So far, my available products are: Eyes Mega Pack, The Wood Tiles Pack, The Uncut Wood Pack (Poser and 3DS Editions), The Ceramic Tiles Pack, The Brick Wall Pack and The Brick Texture Pack, The Pink Fetish Pack, Complex Metals Pack (Volumes 1, 2 and 3). These are available in Renderotica, Animotions, 3D Commune, Content Paradise and for Turbo Squid. My favorite store so far it's the one I have in Turbo Squid, where my products are available in several formats, for either Poser or 3DS. You'll find me there as carlos_teran.

dare
My upcoming products include a set of photo-realistic construction materials, military-grade digital camouflage and some fine stone textures. Those products will be available for Autodesk 3D Studio MAX and Poser.

New

To make things short, DHL lost and destroyed (literally) my main workstation in 2006, and I still remember that day. It took me a month and a half to recover from this event in terms of machine-hours, some of my artwork was lost forever, and they never paid me a dime for the damages. I'll only advise you to read carefully your contract before sending anything with them. Of just avoid using them, if your shipment contains something of value.

This month I would love to showcase the photography of Leslee Lane, she's a terrific artist from our community who delivers a sense of strength lined with tenderness in an unbeatable combination. Be sure to visit her gallery at Sublimelmf.
.

Silver Moon Publishing

(UK) will be publishing my upcoming graphic novel (still with just a working title that promises to deliver 60 pages of fun) as well as my participation in an 3D art book that will feature 5 other artists from Renderotica. There's also a monthy 32-pages Sci-Fi comic book of mine soon to be published in the UK, so stay tuned for more news on this subject. Most of these projects have been delayed because of my workload and a break up, but are still in the works.

Previous episodes of my noir comic Eternal Minuet are available in past issues of Renderotica Magazine. So far, you can get all 6 released episodes there... or you just can wait for the paperback version to be released in late 2009.

Yanelis 3D

Visit the site and store of my good friend Yanelis Barros. You will enjoy her selection of Poser textures and clothing for V3 and V4.

Something must be done regarding an old illness of this site: the Professional Commenter. The profile of such person is a very simple one. This character is someone whose only contribution to the community is just a significant amount of comments and nevertheless features a personal gallery without any deviation on it, or someone who comments on a tone that ranges from offensive to dogmatic, without any meaningful body of works on her/his gallery on the subject he/she is commenting. This trend was very notorious in past years, and has ceased somewhat, but it's still omnipresent, lurking under the surface. Even when I'm aware that everybody is entitled to express an opinion, it's also plain to see that this site isn't a school of arts, where you must be constrained into a rigid mind frame that must be followed. If we're not allowed to express ourselves freely, without the fear of being harshly attacked by some wanna-be critic, this place will become more of a mine field, and less of a community.

dare
There's also something important bothering my mind lately, regarding this fine community: the increasing amount of campy deviations that end up as Daily Deviations just because they happened to appeal to the powers-that-be. It's important to remember that those involved in the selection of those deviations must look at them in a detached, objective way, keeping in their minds that not everybody enjoys fetish or nude photos, stock photography or adult-oriented photography. Most of the users in this site are under 18, and as strange as it sounds coming from an adult-oriented artist, I would like to express my deep personal disappointment at those selections. The powers-that-be must keep in mind that this community is broader, and be objective, keep their personal tastes aside in the choices to be made, and if there's not a good-enough deviation to select for this award (that has become meaningless, in many ways), then don't select anything that day. You don't have to... keep that in your thoughts.

My father Prof. José Z. Terán has a wonderful book about the town in the northeast of México where my ancestors have lived for generations. It's entitled "San Carlos: La Huella De Los Tiempos" (San Carlos: The Track Of Times) and it's right now in its Third Printing. It deals with both historical and human facts on how that community has grown in hundreds of years since the Spanish era. It's also about my roots, and I'm so proud on how my father has worked on this for over a decade, and how I have his legacy to carry on. This book includes some beautiful landscapes that are now posted here at DeviantART for viewing in post-card style in my gallery and also available as prints. The latest edition of the book was released in December 15, 2006. My father's new book, "La Tierra En Que Nací" (The Land Where I Was Born) captures the evolution of my family over centuries and captures his personal view of the small town in northeast México from the stand point of view of a loving son who cherishes his roots. Some of the pictures featured on that book will soon be posted in my gallery in post-card style, also available as prints.

If you have a specific question, or a request or idea for a graphic, please feel free to send me a note at any time. I'm open to ideas and suggestions.

No, I'm not into 3D contests and I don't create commissioned art. I'm quite open for collaborations.

Visit this wonderful graphics that some talented artists have dedicated to me. It's an honor and a pleasure, and I'm deeply grateful of it: Come Into My World by *anelia, For Carlos Teran by ~ligreego, Little Doll by ~katzmeow, and To Carlos-Teran by =SelfMadeQueen. This section used to have more deviations, but many artist have been deleting their galleries for good, and that's a shame.
